Joseph Barbera would have celebrated his centenary on 24th March. He was known for being half of the animation duo of Hanna Barbera which became a very successful animation studio. As a child I was always seeing their creations on children's TV.

As a boy he lived in New York and showed a talent for drawing from an early age. His early career was as a delivery boy and bank worker while drawing cartoons for local newspapers in his spare time. Barbera studied at the Art Students League and at the Pratt Institute before working for various studios as a animator and storyboard artist ending up at the Terrytunes Studio.
