Hall of Fame players are selected for their accomplishments, but what role they played on their team—particularly in terms of offense and defense—matters most. Steve Tasker is an example of a special teams player who made significant contributions to his team, and has multi-tasked on the roster, but has been overlooked by Hall of Fame voters.
Steve Tasker was born in Smith Center, Kansas on April 10, 1962. He played at Dodge City Community College before transferring to Northwestern University and entering the NFL draft. A 226th overall selection in the ’85 draft, he played two seasons with the Houston Oilers before being claimed off of waivers by the Buffalo Bills. It was in Buffalo where he met his greatest success.
